How I got a grad job through Skype!

I was lucky enough to be offered a job by lovely JFL after only chatting to the team via Skype! I was living in South Africa and post-university job hunting was proving difficult. Most companies were uninterested when I mentioned that I wanted to secure a job before moving to London, and that travelling backwards and forwards for interviews was unfortunately not an option.

I came across the JFL website and emailed my CV to Edwina, she gave me a call and I explained my situation. Luckily, she agreed to chat with me via Skype. It felt strange to be discussing a job in London from another continent, but I felt that I got to know the team and company really well, as well as the role.

After only three weeks, three Skype calls and a writing test I got an offer! I was over the moon and booked my flights ready to start on the 1st November. I then started to feel apprehensive about meeting the team in person, but as soon as I did, they were all exactly how I thought they were from our Skype calls!

I am now three months down the line, and I have been made a permanent member of the JFL team. I couldn’t be happier or more grateful that they were willing to hire me before meeting me in person, and I believe that more companies should be open to this as a hiring option.
