Client Services

We have a long heritage of providing a retained executive search for senior level roles. The key to our success has been the development of a deep understanding of our clients’ needs which enables us to provide a highly tailored and consultative service: this is the first step in undertaking a successful executive search instruction.

Our process consists of:

  • Consultation with client on job description, salary level, and other factors, including provision of up-to-date market intelligence.
  • Once the brief has been finalised, our team of search consultants and researchers undertake a detailed market mapping exercise, alongside the compilation of a longlist of appropriate candidates. This is then presented to the client.
  • The longlist agreed, we pro-actively target key professionals, who generally are not actively seeking a new role, to gauge their interest in and suitability for our client. This is done through thorough face-to-face interviews by a panel of our consultants, and explores issues of personal compatibility and ‘team-fit’ alongside detailed competency-based questioning.
  •  Once longlist interviews are complete the final shortlist is presented to client and interviews are arranged.
  • JFL remain integrally involved in the process up until the moment the selected candidate takes up their new role, including pre-appointment negotiations and provision of expert counsel to clients.

We also offer a highly regarded Advertised Search & Selection service.

Our permanent contingent service enables clients to draw on our long established and extensive network of industry contacts.

  • We work tirelessly to ensure our knowledge of the marketplace remains current: maintaining our pool of candidate and industry knowledge is of paramount importance to us. Our recruitment service allows clients to draw on our ‘little black book’ when searching for a new employee.
  • On taking a brief from clients we make a significant time investment to understand both the brief and our client’s wider business needs and culture.
  • We search through our extensive database of candidates and advertise anonymously across a wide range of industry media, including print, online, and via key social media channels. Many of our most successful placements are the result of personal referral from our network.
  • All candidates are interviewed face-to-face by one of our experienced consultants – this is an absolute foundation principle of the service we provide at JFL. Our interviewing focuses as much on issues of team fit as it does the core matters of competency, honesty, and ability.
  • We negotiate remuneration, employment terms, starting dates, any other issues around the appointment, and remain integrally involved in the recruitment process until the successful candidate commences their new role. We provide clients with impartial and expert counsel at all times.

This service provides the ideal solution to recruitment needs across communications disciplines and seniority levels.

Organisations often need to recruit on a temporary basis – perhaps a project requires short-term assistance, a maternity leave needs covering, or a key team member goes on sabbatical.

We provide interim recruitment solutions to clients operating across a wide range of disciplines and sectors. Our interim service operates in a similar way to our permanent recruitment service:

  • We listen carefully to the brief our clients provide: understanding the nature of the role and the reason it has come about is key to successfully supplying the right candidate.
  • We have an established database of experienced professionals available for short-term, long-term or maternity contracts. Drawing on this pool of talent enables JFL to provide cover even in the most urgent of situations. Where appropriate we will also advertise the role across our wide range of print and digital media.
  • Matching candidates to clients’ needs is key: our interim candidates undergo the same rigorous screening and interviewing process as those we put forward for permanent vacancies.
  • JFL remain involved from beginning to end: liaising with candidates and clients at the termination of the contract and facilitating extensions if they are required is all part of the service.

We have a portfolio of freelancers from all sectors, agency and in-house, consumer, corporate and business-to-business who are readily available to hit the ground running.

Freelancers are generally employed on a daily rate and are happy to take roles lasting from a few days to longer term arrangements to suit your business needs.

  • An audit of the current structure and roles of your communications function
  • Benchmarking against key market competitors in your field

This can be initiated as the ‘groundwork’ before searching for a new Director of Communications.  We are also happy to collaborate with a new or well established Director of Communications in planning and shaping an effective team.
