PRIDE 2018

5 July 2018

We always love working in Soho, but nothing beats the feeling of inclusivity when it comes to Pride Month. London is certainly embracing the rainbow ahead of the Pride Parade taking place this Saturday 7th July and we’re thoroughly enjoying it. This year’s theme is #PrideMatters, an opportunity for LGBT+ individuals to ask what Pride means to them, showcasing Pride’s true diversity. Each year, lots of brands show their support of Pride, but we’ve picked our favourites from this year just for you. So, who did it best?

The famous Skittles rainbow has disappeared once again to show support for 2018’s Pride. Skittles UK tweeted: “This Pride only one rainbow matters. So we’ve given ours up. Rainbowless packs are back with each pack raising money for Switchboard – the LGBT+ Helpline.” Expect to see monochrome packets and white sweets for the time being! Give the Rainbow. Taste the Rainbow.

This year it seems you can buy Pride inspired clothing at nearly every high street shop, but in our opinion, no one has done it as quite as well as Topshop/Topman. For this year’s Pride, Topshop has collaborated with designer Charles Jeffrey to create t-shirts featuring artwork from five LGBT+ artists. But it doesn’t stop there. Not only do the t-shirts showcase some of the best LGBT+ talent, each design represents one of the five rights the LGBT+ community have had to fight for over the years. They are: the right to gender recognition, right to adopt, right to marriage, right to serve and right to intimacy. Kudos Topshop.

A firm supporter of Pride globally, and this year is no different for Smirnoff US. This year their limited-edition bottles feature polaroid style photographs of LGBT+ couples from across the states for their ‘Love Wins’ campaign. This campaign is in partnership with designer Sarah Deragon and $1 from the sale of each limited-edition bottle will go to the Human Rights Campaign. We’re just sad we can’t get our hand on one in the UK!

It’s no secret that we love coffee, so you can imagine how happy we were when we realised Costa Coffee were releasing limited edition rainbow coffee cups across the nation to show their support for Pride. Yes, rainbows are great, but what’s even better is that it supports GLOW, Whitbread’s LGBT+ network – Gay Lesbian Out at Whitbread, championing diversity in the workplace.

Transport for London have announced that some of the city’s best-known tube station will undergo a temporary make over to show the city’s support of Pride. Embankment, Tottenham Court Road, Romford and Vauxhall will soon be transformed along with Shoreditch High Street which will don the Pride and transgender flags across tube signs and benches. The famous Santander bikes will also showcase the rainbow so make sure to look for them! #EveryLoveMatters

We’ve loved seeing more companies than ever supporting Pride this year! We hope you have a great time if you’re attending the parade this weekend.
