Last night we celebrated our JFL summer party! Our afternoon consisted of a wonderful wine tasting session at Heddon Street Kitchen where we sampled lots of sparkling, white and red wines. Here are some fun facts we learnt:

  1. Red wine gets lighter with age, not darker.
  2. Germany imports and exports the most sparkling wine in Europe.
  3. There are new world wines (from New Zealand, Australia, California and South Africa) and old world wines (from Europe).
  4. Champagne can only be called Champagne if it is made in the Champagne region.
  5. Wine is more likely to become less alcoholic over time, not more alcoholic, as it is likely to evaporate a little.
  6. You can use a red wine grape in a white wine if you take off the skin. It is the skin that gives wine a colour, not the juice.

We then enjoyed a delicious three-course meal! Thank you so much to Gaby and Millie for organising such a fantastic summer party and Heddon Street Kitchen for hosting us. Cheers!
