TOP TIPS TO HELP YOU DE-STRESS FROM WORK!

9 April 2018

With Britain in the midst of a stress epidemic and Londoner’s most at risk, there is no better time than the present to learn how to destress from work. April is Stress Awareness Month, so it seemed only fair that we share with you our favourite de-stressing techniques!

CREATE A TO DO LIST

At the end of each working day, we like to create a ‘to do’ list so we can prioritise in advance what to do the following day. This saves you worrying all evening about tomorrow’s tasks and allows you to focus on having a stress-free evening.

MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR COMMUTE HOME

London rush hours without a doubt some of the most stressful moments of a day, but there are easy ways to make the most of your commute home which can lead to you feeling less stressed. If you have a particularly long journey home, you could read a book, or, if rummaging around your backpack would make your commute even more stressful, you could listen to your favourite playlist or podcast. A current podcast favourite of ours is ‘Desert Island Discs’.

READING

Reading is incredibly beneficial as it allows you to get lost in a story, it stimulates your brain and can even improve your memory and analytical skills! We have read some amazing books in the office recently, so we thought we’d share them with you in case you needed a little inspiration:

EXERCISE

If sitting still is not your cup of tea, exercise is a great way to de-stress from work and the increase of endorphins actually makes you happier, so what’s not to love? Our current office favourites are Pilates, Aqua Zumba and dance classes! If you don’t want to go the gym, there are loads of free online videos you can copy from the comfort of your own home, or simply put on your favourite dance playlist and have a boogie in your living room! You’ll be amazed at how good this can make you feel.

MIX UP YOUR EVENING ROUTINE

Having the same routine everyday can soon become ineffective as your body and mind lack that much needed stimulation. Mix things up by organising something different to do a couple of times a week, such as going out with friends, going to the cinema, going for dinner or simply watching your favourite film. Change and spontaneity have great de-stressing powers.

Here are just some of our favourites (and they’re cheap!):

SELF-CARE

It’s something nearly all of us forget to do, but pampering yourself and having a self-care routine is fundamental to staying stress-free. Simply having a bath, meditating or detoxing from social media for an evening will have such a positive impact of your wellbeing.
