Need to accelerate your career? Here’s why you should consider a move to Automotive PR

11 April 2017

If you’re looking for a new challenge in PR then why not drive full throttle into the exciting world of automotive? Encompassing far more than cars, the industry is fast-evolving and forward-thinking, and produces some of the most creative communications campaigns. Their innovative, out-of-the-box, and often satirical nature has helped guide the automotive PR Industry into a new gear.

Here are some of our favourite campaigns:

Taylor Herrings ‘Get Fit Kwik with Kwik Fit’ campaign was a huge success; they won the PRWeek award for Best Automotive & Transport Campaign of 2016 and also a CIPR Excellence award for Best Automotive Campaign. Their goal was to craft a campaign that aided their customer’s fitness and generated awareness for the brand - which no doubt they did! They drew upon the post-Christmas slump, when many feel the need to join an expensive gym or partake in a juice cleanse in order to join in with the January health kick and lose a ‘spare tyre’ or two. Their back to basics workout using only tyres made it a perfect balance of fitness and automotive elements.

A UK agency that is striving forward in UK automotive PR campaigning is Performance Communications. Their work with Nissan and Alfa Romeo - to name a few - has only added to the flurry of awards they have received over the last few years, including being The Masters of Marketing Automotive winner. However, arguably their most adventurous and well-recognised campaign is their Land Rover Defender campaign of 2015, which came about as a celebration for the Defenders’ end of production. Their idea was to recreate the first Land Rover design on Wharf Bay using a fleet of Defenders - the image ended up being the biggest piece of sand art the UK has ever had.
